Luverne 12U team wins Buffalo Days tournament

The Luverne Baseball Association hosted its annual Buffalo Days youth baseball tournament June 5-7.
A total of 48 teams from across the area participated in the tournament, which was sponsored by the Bluestem.
 In all, 90 total games were played on fields around Luverne over three days. 
Six local teams competed in five different divisions in their hometown tournament.
The 12U team took home first place in that division after going 4-0 over the weekend.
The 12U team opened the tournament on Friday night by defeating Pipestone 6-2. On Saturday Luverne shut out Marshall 10-0.
In the semifinals Luverne defeated the Sioux Falls SWAT Pheasants 13-1 to advance to the championship game on Sunday.
The Luverne 12U team had little trouble with Harris-Lake Park, winning 13-2 in the title game.
Luverne’s 14U team also played in its division’s championship game on Sunday, losing 7-6.
