Dragons end baseball season in Section Championship

The Section 3A high school baseball tournament began with 19 teams. The Adrian Dragons made it all the way to the final two teams.
AHS reached the championship game by upsetting the top-seeded Windom Eagles 5-0 in the elimination bracket on June 2. 
After winning four straight elimination games, Adrian then fell to the Springfield Tigers 3-0 in Sacred Heart.
The Dragons ended their season with a 16-8 record. Springfield won Section 3A and moved on to the state tournament with a record of 20-3.

Adrian’s improbable run through the section tournament came to an end when they took on Springfield on Thursday.
Brady Lonneman pitched four complete innings for the Dragons and allowed the Tigers three runs on three hits.
Logan Rogers pitched the fifth and sixth innings for Adrian. He faced just seven hitters and allowed no runs.
Carter Erickson pitched a complete game shutout for Springfield and struck out five Adrian batters.
Tony Sieve was one for three at the plate for the Dragons.
 
Adrian 5, Windom 0
The third-seeded Adrian Dragons downed the top-seeded Windom Eagles by a score of 5-0 in an elimination game played in Marshall June 2.
For the third straight game, Adrian junior Logan Rogers pitched all seven innings in dominant fashion.
Rogers pitched a shutout, allowing just four hits, striking out six batters, and walking none.
The Dragon bats came alive in the third inning when Michael Preuss walked and Rogers singled.
 Brady Lonneman then hit a double that allowed Preuss and Rogers to score. Zach Loosbrock followed up with a single that scored Lonneman to make the score 3-0.
In the fifth inning, the Dragons loaded the bases with a single by Rogers, a walk for Lonneman, and a single by Tony Sieve.
A single by Zach Loosbrock scored Jacob Stamer, who was a courtesy runner for Rogers, to give Adrian a 4-0 lead.
The Dragons’ final run came in the sixth inning when a sacrifice fly by Rogers sent Cody Polzine across home plate.
