10 years ago (2005)
•The Luverne City Council approved specifications and the advertisement for bids for new lighting on Main Street to be completed before the street is redone this year. The lights will stand 14 feet above the ground and will be an old-fashioned design, with a glass globe on top of each.
 
25 years ago (1990)
•Luverne won its first game since 1972 in a state baseball tournament when it coasted to a 6-1 win over Eveleth-Gilbert at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud Tuesday.
 
50 years ago (1965)
•The new look on Main Street in Luverne is achieved by the treatment given three store buildings. Creegers was enlarged after a small frame building which adjoined it on the west was removed. The building next to it is now occupied by Merrill’s Shoe Store. At the far left is Smith Furniture.
 
75 years ago (1940)
•Harold P. Van Roekel is the manager of Van’s Super Service, the new Sinclair service station located on Main Street. His grand opening will be held Saturday.
 
100 years ago (1915)
•A fire of unquestionably incendiary origin almost totally destroyed the A. Steinfeldt blacksmith shop on East Maple street early Tuesday morning and threatened also to consume the Klondike livery barn, adjoining it on the west.
