Pursuant to the Rock County Zoning Ordinance, notice is hereby given by the Rock County Planning and Zoning Commission that a public hearing will be held at the Rock County USDA Service Center located at 311 West Gabrielson Road, Luverne, Minnesota, at 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015. The purpose of this hearing is to rule on the application for Conditional Use Permit for the following:
Applicant and 
Property Owner: Chad Hoff
Location: A 9.42 acre tract in the SW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of 
  Section 18 of Mound Township, T103N, R45W, 
  Rock County, Minnesota
Conditional Use: Expansion of an existing feedlot more than
  1,000 animal units
The conditional use is for the expansion of an existing feedlot on the property described above. The feedlot consists of two total confinement barns, with poured reinforced concrete manure storage under the barns. The barns house 2,400 head of finishing swine between 33 and 300 pounds. Using 0.3 animal units per head, the permitted capacity of the existing facility is 720 animal units.
The expansion shall consist of adding a total confinement barn, with poured reinforced concrete manure storage under the barns, housing 1,200 head of finishing swine. After the expansion, the facility shall hold 3,600 head of swine between 55 and 300 pounds.
Using 0.3 animal units per head, the total capacity of the site will be 1,080 animal units.
