Dragon track athletes wrap up season

The Adrian track athletes wrapped up the 2015 season at the Section 3A Track and Field Championships in Luverne Thursday.
Adrian athletes participated in nine events at the meet (Cain Rautenkranz qualified for the meet, but didn’t participate) at the meet, but they were unable to extend their campaigns.
Athletes qualify for state by placing first or second in section events, or by meeting the state-qualifying standards that are in place for the meet.
The Dragons didn’t meet the criteria.
The AHS boys scored 17 points to place 14th in a 24-team field that was led by Montevideo (100 points).
Taylor Recker turned in the top effort for the Dragons by clearing 5-11 to place third in the high jump.
Recker also ran legs with Adrian’s 1,600- and 400-meter relays, which placed fourth and fifth with respective 3:37.83 and 46.61 efforts.
Theron Miller, Chris Christians and Tanner Kamm joined forces with Recker in the 1,600, while Zach Bierman, Miller and Kamm round out the 400-meter squad.
Miller turned in a seventh-place effort by clearing 5-9 in the high jump.
The 800-meter relay capped the scoring for the boys by placing eighth with a time of 1:39.79.
Bierman, Kasey Madtson, Christians and Kamm formed the team.
The AHS girls participated in three events at the section meet without scoring points.
Senior Morgan Sauer turned in the top effort by placing ninth in the 1,600-meter run in 6:00.86.
Here is a look at the rest of the efforts turned in by AHS athletes at the meet.
 
AHS girls
13th place: 1,600 relay (Shaina Combs, Kristin Reisdorfer, Morgan Kern and Katia Suarez), 4:42.92.
16th place: 800 relay (Kern, Reisdorfer, Combs and Suarez), 2:01.79.
 
AHS boys
14th place: Recker, 400, 55.19.
