Adrian baseball continues winning in section elimination play

The Adrian High School baseball team continued its march through the Section 3A baseball tournament with three wins in elimination games this week.
The Dragons, now 15-7 on the season, defeated Edgerton/Southwest Christian, Canby and MACCRAY to advance to play top-seeded Windom in a game scheduled to be played Tuesday, June 3.

Adrian came up big again with a come-from-behind victory on Saturday to extend their season.
Junior Logan Rogers pitched all seven innings for the Dragons. He struck out 13 Wolverine batters and issued no walks. 
At the start of the game, Rogers gave up a lead-off double and then a two-run home run in the first inning to give MACCRAY a 2-0 lead.
“I was a little nervous at the start of the game,” Rogers said. “But I settled down and got through it and the rest of the game went pretty well.”
Adrian’s first score came in the second inning when Brady Lonneman singled, advanced to third base on a Tony Sieve double, and then scored on a fielding error by a MACCRAY player.
The score remained 2-1 until the top of the fifth inning when the Dragons scored twice.
With the bases loaded and two outs, Lonneman hit a single that scored two runs. 
Lonneman was 3 for 4 in the game with 2 RBIs and Rogers was 2 for 4 in the contest.
 
Adrian 2, Canby 0
The Dragons registered their second two-run win in elimination play when they downed the Lancers in Sacred Heart Thursday.
Brady Lonneman tossed a seven-inning shutout to highlight the victory, limiting the Lancers to one hit and fanning four batters.
Adrian plated single runs in the second and fifth innings to support the pitcher.
Lonneman reached base on an error and scored the second-inning run when Nate Lonneman registered a sacrifice fly.
Alex Loosbrock singled and pinch runner Jake Stammer scored in the fifth when Logan Rogers singled.
 
Adrian 2, E-SWC 0
The Dragons remained alive in the tournament by recording a two-run win over the Flying Dutchmen during an elimination game staged in Windom May 27.
A commanding performance on the mound by junior Logan Rogers led the Dragons to victory.
Rogers tossed a seven-inning shutout that featured the AHS ace fanning 15 batters and surrendering one hit (a seventh-inning single).
The Dragons plated single runs in the fifth and seventh frames to support their pitcher.
Cody Polzine singled and scored the first run of the game in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Brady Lonneman.
Nate Lonneman walked and scored in the seventh inning on a throwing error.
Polzine led the Dragons at the plate with two hits, while Rogers and Michael Preuss chipped in two safeties each.
