10 years ago (2005)
•M-M Distributing is celebrating its 40th anniversary this week, and Merlyn and Lynn Lopau say they’re glad to have done business all these years in Luverne.
 
25 years ago (1990)
•Widening of the Highway 75 bridge over I-90 has been delayed, according to MnDOT spokesperson Becky Austin. For reasons unknown the letting has now been pushed back to September of next year, which will move construction into 1992.
 
50 years ago (1965)
•Luverne athletes this year established a record that will challenge the Cardinals of the future. Never before have as many district titles been held by the school at one time.
 
75 years ago (1940)
•Luverne has surpassed the 3,000 population mark, it was announced this week by A.P. Krost, district census supervisor at Redwood Falls, who reports that a preliminary count of the returns of the sixteenth decennial census is 3,109. This count, taken as of April 1, this year, represents a gain of 465 or 17.5 per cent for the 10-year period which began April 1, 1930.
 
100 years ago (1915)
•The outcome of the special election held Monday was no surprise to anyone, for it was expected by both sides that county option would carry. Nor was the majority of 230 in favor of a dry county larger than most people expected. A total of 1682 votes were cast in the county, the drys polling 965 and the wets 726.
