Vermayne Nels “Vern” Sundem, 77, Minneapolis, died Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina from complications of Parkinson’s disease. 
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Vermayne Sundem was born May 21, 1937, to Herbert and Pearl Sundem in Hills. He graduated from Hills High School where he enjoyed FFA and playing football. He then attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism.
On Oct. 3, 1959, he married Dee Eggers. They lived in Minneapolis
He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, had a lifelong passion for the Gophers, was a constant supporter of activities his children and grandchildren participated in and was always willing to help.
Vern is survived by his wife, Dee Sundem, Minneapolis; his mother, Pearl Sundem, Hills; two children, Greg (Susan) Sundem, Castle Rock, Colorado, and Sue (Scott) Mehr, Savage; four grandchildren, Ben, Nicole, Tim and Adam; a brother, Terry (Marilyn) Sundem, Sherman, Illinois; and many other relatives and friends.  
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Sundem.
Memorials may be directed to the National Parkinson Foundation of Minnesota, University of Minnesota Department of Neurology or Mount Olivet Lutheran Church.
