Luverne shortstop Connor Sandbulte scoops up a bounding ball during Friday's 4-3 home loss to Buffalo.

Buffalo nips LHS in seventh inning

The Luverne baseball team rallied to knot the score late in the game before falling 4-3 to Buffalo at Redbird Field Friday.

Luverne, which faced 2-0 and 3-1 deficits in the game, put together a two-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning to knot the score at three.

The Bison, however, scored one run in the top of the seventh and blanked the Cards in the bottom half of the inning to leave town with a victory.

Buffalo plated single runs in the first and fourth inning before Luverne came up with a run in the bottom of the fourth when Connor Hoffman was hit by a pitch and scored on a throwing error to make it 2-1.

The Bison extended their lead to 3-1 in the top of the sixth before the Cards tied the game at three with RBI singles from Jaxon Nelson and Tommy Vajgrt in the bottom half of the frame.

Hoffman tossed all seven innings on the hill for LHS. He yielded nine hits and three earned runs.
