Dragons win two thrillers Saturday

The Adrian baseball won a pair of games with seven-inning rallies Saturday.

The Dragons nipped Red Rock Central-Westbrook-Walnut Grove 6-5 in the first game before posting a 4-3 victory over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in the finale.

Adrian sports a 9-4 record at day's end.

 

Adrian 4, T-M-B 3

The Dragons plated a run in the bottom half of the seventh inning to nip Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in Saturday’s second game.

With the score knotted at three, Logan Rogers slapped a leadoff single and advanced to third base on a throwing effort by the Panthers.

Following intentional walks to Brady Lonneman and Tony Sieve, Landon Rogers lined a single to center field to chase home the decisive run.

Adrian opened a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single by Logan Rogers, a successful squeeze bunt by Sieve and an RBI double from Landon Rogers.

T-M-B tied the game with a three-run rally in the third.

Lonneman tossed seven innings of four-hit, nine-strikeout ball to earn the win.

 

AHS 6, RRC-W-WG 5

A five-run rally in the bottom half of the seventh inning gave the Dragons a one-run win during Saturday’s first game against Red Rock Central-Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

After taking a 1-0 lead with an RBI single from Lonneman in the first inning, the Dragons found themselves facing a 5-1 deficit heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Adrian loaded the bases with one out before Lonneman bounced into a fielder’s choice that chased home one run and resulted in the second out of the frame.

Sieve singled to load the bases for a second time before Landon Rogers chopped a ball down the third-base line.

The ball was fielded by the Falcons, but the throw to first sailed down the right-field line and the error allowed the Dragons to score four runs and win the game.

Logan Rogers pitched five and two-thirds innings of four-run, nine-strikeout ball in relief of Sieve to earn the win.

Sieve tossed the first inning and one third, surrendering one run.
