Golf boys win Fairmont invite
The Luverne Cardinal boys experienced their most successful golf day of the season during the Fairmont Invitational Saturday.
For the first time in program history, LHS won the team championship at the 13-squad event with a 310-stroke total.
Mark Spreiter led the Cards to victory by shooting a one-over-par 72 to place second individually.
Colton Arends, Coy Gonnerman and Chaz Smedsrud added 77-, 80- and 81-stroke rounds to the team tally.
Casey Klosterbuer and Jack Baustian shot 94- and 100-stroke rounds without impacting the scoring.
JCC, which placed second to LHS with a 321-stroke team tally, received a medal-earning round of 71 strokes from Joe Brinkman.
