AHS baseball team takes two from HL-O
The Adrian baseball team remained unbeaten in Red Rock Conference play after sweeping a twin bill from Heron Lake-Okabena in Adrian Thursday.
The Dragons rolled to a 15-2 win in the opener before posting a 10-3 victory in the finale.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning of Game 1, AHS put together a six-run rally in the top of the fourth and scored nine runs in the seventh inning to win handily.
Nate Lonneman led a 20-hit attack by notching four safeties in the game. Logan Rogers slapped three hits and Michael Preuss and Zach Hendel chipped in two hits each.
Tony Sieve pitched five and one-third innings of four-hit, one-run, seven-strike-out ball to earn the win. Logan Rogers recorded the final five outs of the game.
Game two was knotted at three until Adrian put together a seven-run rally in the bottom of the sixth to settle the issue.
Adrian, which registered 14 hits in the contest, received a three-hit performance from Brady Lonneman. Nate Lonneman and Logan Rogers chipped in two hits each.
Brady Lonneman worked the first four and one-third innings on the mound and yielded three runs before giving way to Rogers, who earned the win by working the final two and two-thirds innings. Rogers fanned seven batters.
