Arrows take two from LHS girls

The Luverne softball team dropped a pair of Big South Conference contests when it entertained Pipestone for a doubleheader Thursday.

The visiting Arrows rolled to a 16-1 win in five innings during the opener before securing a 12-2 victory in six innings during the finale.

Pipestone scored 14 consecutive runs in the first three innings of play to set the stage for a 15-run win in Game 1.

LHS, which was limited to five hits, scored once in the bottom of the fifth when Rylee Olson tripled and scored on a single by Susan Thompson.

Bryanna Wessels doubled for the Cards, while Ariel Reker and Madi Oye chipped in singles.

Olson pitched all five innings and took the loss. She yielded 21 hits.

The Arrows scored nine runs in the first two innings of the nightcap to lead the way to a 10-run victory.

Luverne received a double by Katie Kracht and one single each from Alexis Hiller, DeBeer, Thompson, Wessels, Oye and Kayla Thone.

DeBeer tossed all six innings and was saddled with the loss. She surrendered nine hits.
