"Residents of Steen are busy making last minute plans for their big bicentennial celebration to be held on July 2. Steen continues to be a progressive community ever since its beginning. Instrumental in the incorporation of Steen in the late fall of 1941 were the Rev. Wm. DeJong and S.O. Mithun. Mr. Mithun was appointed the first mayor in 1942 and served in this capacity for 28 years. The first official Council meeting was held March 11, 1942, with Mac as mayor and Weard Schoon as clerk."
