    Workers from Roof System Inc. of Brandon, South Dakota, spent two days last week repairing the roof of the United Methodist Church in downtown Luverne. On Sept. 25 the workers created an artificial rainbow as they used a garden hose to search for caulked seams in need of replacing.

    Luverne City officials are working with engineers on a berm that would minimize flood damage at Redbird Field. In the June 2014 flooding, a raging Rock River spilled its banks and deposited corn stalks, debris and tons of sand and silt onto Redbird Field.     Timely taxpayer payments and debt refinancing resulted in a decrease of the Luverne School District 2017 preliminary levy of 2.77 percent.
