The annual Halloween Costume Walk took on a different format Saturday at the Tuff Memorial Home and Tuff Village in Hills. Instead of walking the halls with residents waving from doorways, costumed children and adults walked around the outside of the nursing home and assisted living facility as residents watched safely behind windows. The precautions were necessary due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic.

The 45-minute event on Halloween afternoon garnered 123 children in costumes, three horses, three dogs and one dinosaur, according to the attendance tally kept by the Blue Ribbon 4-H Club members. The 4-H’ers helped hand out bags of candy and direct walkers around the home and in front of the Village. Earlier, the 4-H’ers painted pumpkins for each resident.
