The Rock County Relay for Life events and activities unfolded Thursday night in the Luverne City Park.
Due to pandemic social distancing, it played out as a drive-through event where supporters could tune in on their car radios to hear speakers and music.
As they circled the park in their vehicles, they could view the posters honoring survivors and in memory of those lost to cancer.
Sunshine Foods donated boxed meals for motorists who offered donations, and Relay for Life Honorary Chairperson Yvette VanDerBrink spoke from under the shade of a park shelter house.
The revised format of the annual American Cancer Society fundraiser dampened the usual festive nature of the event, but local organizers said it was still meaningful.
“We were blessed by the support we received yesterday at our Relay for Life event,” they posted on their Facebook page. “We appreciate you all so much. Thank you.”
