Superintendent receives passing marks in annual evaluation

Luverne Schools Superintendent Craig Oftedahl received passing grades during his annual evaluation by School Board members.
Each of the seven board members rated Oftedahl on four performance and two professional development goals set last year.
Each goal was rated as 1 for unsatisfactory, 2 for satisfactory, 3 for excellent or 4 four distinguished.
The four professional goals and the board ratings include:
•Provide leadership for the district at the school level as well as the community level: 3.5 — between accomplished and distinguished.
•Maintain school finances according to school policy, maintain a fund balance of 30 to 40 percent, and secure credit cards for the district and promote proper use through policy: 2.5 —satisfactory to accomplished.
•Maintain effective communication with school board members, staff and community: 3 —accomplished.
•Cultivate community partnerships to maximize resources and enhance student opportunities such as Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities and medical careers class: 4 — distinguished.
Board chairman Jodi Bosch read the evaluation results at the Aug. 22 school board meeting.
“Mr. Oftedahl continues to excel in his leadership role in the school and community,” Bosch read.
“His work on the CEO and medical careers class has helped make these programs successful. His leadership has been appreciated on the building project also. We look forward to continued communication and teamwork as we move forward.”
Ratings for the two personal development goals included:
•Continue training and working with all of those involved in the building project; maintain communication with the various stakeholders necessary in moving the project forward: 3 — accomplished.
•Support and communicate developments in standards based grading and continue to move the district to full implementation: 2 — satisfactory.
