St. John Lutheran Church's Sunday School Christmas program was made entirely as a video production this year.
Through Scripture, song and a bit of imaginative fun, "Three Magi and a Baby" tells the Christmas narrative from the perspective of three wise men as they research the prophecies and promises that are fulfilled by Jesus' birth.
St. John’s Jessica Blocker was the producer, director, creative designer and costumer for the production.
“It was important for me that, rather than feel like this year's program was a compromise due to COVID-19 circumstances, we create something special, unique and high quality for our families to be a part of and enjoy,” she said.
“I wanted our program to be unforgettable for positive reasons rather than sad ones. I think we certainly achieved that and had lots of fun along the way.”
Work on this original program began as early as August, with filming and recording taking place in October, November and December.
In all, 35 children were involved in the movie, as well as some adults from the congregation. The feature-length film can be viewed on St. John's YouTube channel, which can be linked to through the church website, stjohnlutheranluverne.org.
