SpringBrooke Events owners Rick and Sonja Gourley hosted a ribbon-cutting celebration Friday night with champagne, live music and tours of the spacious facility on the 89-acre golf course in Beaver Creek.
“Thank you to the community for all your support, and thanks to our staff for all their hard work,” Rick Gourley told the group of local leaders, citizens and business people.
The facility has seating space for over 400, but it accommodates groups of all sizes. It’s set up especially for wedding receptions with a spacious bridal suite off the main entrance.
Gourley’s plan since buying the property last year is unfolding in phases.
The first phase reopens the events center, which underwent extensive remodeling in recent months.
Several parties are already booked in the facility this summer, and Gourley said it’s drawing traffic from Sioux Falls to Beaver Creek.
“I think it’s an absolute home run,” he said Friday night when asked about SpringBrooke’s future.
His optimism for his project is bolstered by the Highway 100 bypass under construction west of Brandon that will allow for a 20-minute trip from Sioux Falls to Beaver Creek.
The entire main floor is dedicated to hosting events and the SpringBrooke Golf & Grill will be a ground floor walkout in the lower level of the events center.
Some dirt work has started on the golf course, but with weather setbacks and other challenges during the 2019 construction season, the course won’t be suitable for use until late in 2020.
The venue originally opened in 2001 as the Beaver Creek Golf Course and Beaver Lodge Event Center.
After closing in 2007 it remained empty until 2018, when it was purchased by Gourley Properties of Sioux Falls and named after the small brook that winds its way through the golf course.
