Sixty-seven inches and counting

Lead Summary

Ashlyn Johnson is 16" of hair lighter after a Nov. 29 haircut by her mother, Heather Johnson, Luverne, who shared these photos on Facebook. The 15-year-old donates her hair to charitable organizations that make wigs for people who suffer from hair loss. This is her fifth hair donation in 10 years, according to Heather. “I cannot believe how fast this girl grows hair,” she said. This donation makes 67.25 total inches of hair donated over the years. This year’s donation is for Wigs for Kids, which doesn’t charge families for wigs for children suffering from conditions that cause hair loss. Ashlyn’s younger sister, Luella, also donates her hair, and after a cut this week is at 24 inches donated so far.
