The Hills-Beaver Creek Education Foundation recently announced Robin Schuelke as the 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year.
Schuelke, secondary math teacher, was chosen to receive the award, voted on by the H-BC Education Foundation.
After graduating from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary math, Schuelke started her first teaching job in the fall of 2000 at H-BC.
She teaches seventh-grade math, eighth- and 10th-grade algebra, ninth-grade geometry and 11th-grade math and advanced math.
Schuelke and her husband of nine years, Russ, have three boys, Max, 8, who will start third grade this fall, Emmett, 4, who will attend Little Pates, and Reese, who was born March 24.
Outside of teaching Schuelke enjoys spending time with family and friends.
She said it’s an honor to receive the Teacher of the Year Award, but she also credits her co-workers for making H-BC a quality school.
“I work with an amazing staff that goes above and beyond every day for our students, and because of their hard work and dedication to education, we get to see the result of all of that when our students walk across the stage to receive their diplomas at graduation each year,” Schuelke said.
“There are no words to describe that feeling, but I know that I was part of each student’s education, and that is why this award means a lot to me. I can’t thank my students enough for the difference that they have made in my life over the years.”
