Schomacker Cleaning and Flooring is expanding to the former Luverne Style Shop building in downtown Luverne.
The local company plans to open a retail store on the corner of Main and Cedar and will add the sales and service of major household appliances to its offerings.
Schomacker Flooring and Appliance is expected to have a soft opening in mid-August and be fully open for business in early September.
“We saw a void in Luverne in the area of major appliance sales and service and hope to meet those needs for our community,” said Joe Schomacker.
The company is currently working on agreements to offer a full line of household appliances from at least three major brands.
While the cleaning business will continue to operate from the original location at the corner of Main and Estey, the current flooring operations will join the appliances at the new store.
“We will have carpet, tile and hardwood flooring together with appliances at the new retail location,” Schomacker said.
The expansion into appliances was a natural growth area for the family business.
“We are already in local homes for cleaning and flooring, so it just made sense to provide appliance services locally as well,” he said.
Service and repair of appliances will be available in addition to the sales and service of new inventory.
Schomacker said the business has the potential to add additional employees with the new store in the future.
“We aren’t sure yet what the demands will be,” he said. “But there could be the opportunity in the near future for additional employees.”
