Rock County Talent Fair results released

Contestants in the Rock County Talent Show performed to a full house at the Palace Theatre Wednesday night, July 27, to kick off the 2016 Rock County Free Fair.
The event, which at one time was held at the fairgrounds, attracted nearly 50 participants in more than 20 talent show entries.
There were nine entries in the Pre-Teen Division (12 and younger).
First Place went to Elise Ferrell for her vocal performance, “Burning House.”
Second Place was a Spotlight Dance performance of “Lost Boy.” (Hannah Baker, Trista Baustian, Anna Boltjes, Kaysie Lenz, Mary Opitz, Hope Thorson and Cedar Viessman)
Third Place went to Vivian Brockberg for her Spotlight Dance performance of “Get Your Cape On.”
There were 12 entries in the Teen Division (13 to 18 years)
Allie LaRock took first place with her vocal performance of “Popular” from the musical, “Wicked.”
Kristen Ziegler took second place with her hip hop, jazz and lyrical dance performance of her own choreographed “Dance Mix.”
Autumn Driscoll’s vocal solo of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” took third place.
There were three entries in the Open Division.
First Place was awarded to the Spotlight Dance daughter, mother, father performance of “A Tribute to Grease.”
Second Place went to Heidi Kramer and Sue Sandbulte for their vocal performance of Dolly Parton’s “A Coat of Many Colors.”
Mariah Talsma was third for her vocal and piano performance of “Better Place.”
First place winners in each division are awarded $100 and an invitation to perform at the Minnesota State Fair.
Second and third-place winners receive $75 and $50, respectively.
The event is sponsored by Sioux Valley Energy and organized by the Rock County Fair Board and Luverne Area Chamber.
George Bonnema, Susan Skattum and Mary Jo Graphenteen were judges, and Jim Juhl and Eugene Marshall operated the sound system.
