•Construction of Rock County’s new Law Enforcement Center is so far on schedule and within budget, according to an update at Tuesday’s County Board meeting. …
Project superintendent Dave Molberg said he’d rather not talk about early timelines, because snags can occur later in the process to set back the schedule. …
He said that of all the work he’s done on major commercial projects, this has been a smooth job. “It’s smaller, by comparison, and it’s going nicely,” he said.
 
25 years ago (1991)
•The Rock County Sheriff’s Office still has no suspect in the July 26 Hardwick State Bank robbery.
Sheriff Ron McClure said Tuesday his deputies continued to canvass the area over the weekend, but had no luck in finding the robber or more witnesses.
The Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man from 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet tall, medium build and weighing possibly 160 pounds. He walked into the Hardwick State Bank about 12:30 p.m. wearing dark clothes and a ski mask, pointed a shotgun at bank president Larry Rolfs and took an undisclosed amount of money.

•Crazy, Crazy “Redikilus Day” gets underway here today at 9 a.m.
Local business firms will be busy before that time, getting dressed in ridiculous costumes, and getting their tables of merchandise out on the sidewalks for display there. …
“Flying Saucers” will be dropped from an airplane at 2 p.m. today. Originally, it was estimated that 1,000 paper plates bearing values and prices in varying amounts at the various stores would be sailed over the city. By Tuesday, business firms indicated they would be “sailing” over 1,200 of them.
 
75 years ago (1941)
•Announcement was made this week that the 1941 Agderlaget, gathering of Norwegian people originating from the southern part of Norway, will be held in Luverne and that Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 12, 13 and 14 are the dates set. Most of the sessions will be at the Luverne Armory.
Detailed plans were not made public, but it was announced that the Agderlaget would open in the Armory with a program on Friday afternoon. The business session is scheduled for Saturday morning, which will be followed by a program of speeches.
 
100 years ago (1916)
•A farmers’ day celebration will be held in Luverne next Thursday, Aug. 17, according to a decision reached at a meeting of a number of the business men held yesterday morning.
The details of the celebration have not been completed at this writing, but the arrangements will be in line with similar celebrations of this character. A program of field and street sports will be prepared, and the usual prizes will be awarded by the business houses of the city to patrons.
