For those without the time or desire to do laundry, Rock County Opportunities (RCO) can help.
The RCO Laundry Service is a partnership with the Laundry Room, where owner Mike Jarchow has a large sign referring potential customers to the RCO drop-off and pick-up service.
The laundry work began about a year ago, according to RCO Executive Director Elizabeth Schear.
“The goal is twofold,” Schear said about the service. “To help people who need assistance with laundry and to provide jobs for the clients RCO serves.”
Rock County Opportunities serves clients with disabilities at its facility in Luverne. The laundry service is one of many supported job opportunities RCO provides for its clients.
“There are three clients who are our usual go-to people when we get laundry work in,” Schear said. “They are good at and enjoy it.”
Prices for the service vary, depending on the size of the load and include soap, wash, dry and fold.
A regular-sized load costs about $8.50 and there is a one-time laundry bag purchase of $7.50.
Options such as ironing, pick up and delivery are available for an additional cost.
According to Schear, an average bag, which includes roughly three loads, can usually be done in one day.
“If there are stains or special instructions, the cost and time frame may differ,” she added.
Schear said the laundry service has been successful overall so far and RCO is looking to add more customers.
“It has been a good start to work out the details of how we provide laundry services,” she said. “We are looking for more laundry work.”
