Longtime Luverne dentist David Paquette announced his retirement this week while also revealing plans to sell his space to the adjacent eye clinic.
In a letter to patients, Paquette said his dental practice will close Feb. 25.
“I have been deeply privileged to provide dental care for you and your families,” he wrote. “I have been grateful for the opportunity to talk with you and learn what is going on in your lives.”
He said he’s looking forward to the different pace of life retirement brings, including spending more time hunting, traveling and enjoying family and grandchildren.
“I have been honored to be part of the great health care community of Luverne, Rock County and beyond,” he said, admitting his retirement decision came with mixed emotions.
Paquette said Luverne dentist Rebecca Vis will assume his patients and their records, but he said his staff will facilitate transfers to other dental offices if they choose.
“I value her professionalism, experience and judgment, and I highly recommend her to you,” he said about Vis, who enclosed a welcome letter in the same envelope as Paquette’s retirement letter.
Paquette has practiced dentistry in Luverne since 1980, first in his home office and later in the current space on North Freeman Avenue previously occupied by Dr. Bill Bollinger.
That space will now become part of Rock County Eye Clinic, which will expand its operations.
Dr. Sandra Carman of the eye clinic said she and her staff are looking forward to the expansion.
“We are very excited to be able to expand to Dr. Paquette’s office space,” she said. “This will allow us to add services, as well as new products, for our community.”
The expansion, expected in the coming months, will more than double the eye clinic’s operating space.
“It makes me happy that our space will continue to serve the health needs of the people of Luverne and the surrounding area,” Paquette said.
