A specially designed trailer was used Friday morning to house an unusual puppet show at the Luverne City Park.
For the past two weeks Margo McCreary and Paulino Brener have been performing “The On-Time Circus” at 18 locations within the Plum Creek Library System.
The event was free and open to audiences of all ages. The Rock County Community Library hosted the local event that lasted about 45 minutes.
McCreary said Luverne was the duo’s 17th show and by far the most humid outdoor performance. The tour finished Friday afternoon in Worthington with an indoor show.
Almost 50 people attended the Luverne event, sponsored by state Clean Water Land and Legacy funds.
McCreary created the “The On-Time Circus” story.
As the master puppeteer, she brought various characters to life. She also played the peace officer whose demand for a performance permit threatened to delay the on-time circus.
Brener played the clown, Ms. Tock.
“Ms. Tock is the (circus) proprietor,” McCreary said. “She loves time and loves to do things on time.”
Besides teaching audience members about time, the event also involved other mathematical learning as Ms. Tock conversed with Grandfather Clock and the other circus characters.
The two-wheeled puppet wagon/trailer was made out of repurposed building supplies and featured a solar collector to provide electricity for the loud speakers and recorded music.
