By
Lori Sorenson

Dr. Tanner Brolsma has taken over the Luverne Family Dental practice since Dr. Rebecca Vis relocated to northern Minnesota.
Brolsma has been working in Luverne for just over a month and said he’s enjoyed meeting patients in the community.
“I’ve been extremely happy during these first six weeks,” he said. “The staff has been extremely helpful and the patients have been welcoming.”
He said he’s pleased to continue the solid practice Vis leaves behind, and he’s excited to introduce more procedures, such as dental implants, in Luverne so that patients won’t need to travel to Sioux Falls for them.
Brolsma also mentioned new imaging technology that will help with diagnostics and improve outcomes, and patients will have access to sleep apnea devices and Invisalign clear braces.
He said he looks forward to meeting more patients and community members and appreciates doing business in a small town.
Brolsma lived in Adrian until he was 10 and then moved with his parents, Tom and Marcia Brolsma, to Hampton, Iowa.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and his doctorate at the University of Iowa, Iowa City.
Brolsma practiced one year in Sioux Falls before starting in Luverne.
He and his fiancée, Gracie, live in Sioux Falls, where she is also a dentist.
Brolsma is a part-owner of the Luverne practice, along with Dr. Matt Ford and his fiancée, Dr. Sara Robison.
They own Luverne Family Dental and have taken over Dr. Vis’s lease of the Main Street building space.
Ford said Brolsma will be the primary dentist in Luverne, and the other partners will support him.
“We are pretty much just helping him run some of the administrative tasks so he can focus on the dentistry,” Ford said. “Sara and I will also be out there to help out in any way we can and will be doing some dentistry as needed as Dr. Brolsma gets busier."
He also said Luverne Family Dental is also working with the oral surgeons who are planning to come to South Highway 75 in Luverne.
“We have been in discussions with them on how to best serve Luverne and surrounding areas,” Ford said. “That will be a great addition to the community when it happens.”
