More than 100 visitors from the area toured Midwest Fire in Luverne Oct. 4 for Manufacturing Day, which highlights manufacturing careers for schools, students and community members.
This is the third time Midwest Manufacturing has participated in the national observance, and this had its biggest group ever, according to CEO Sarah Atchison.
“We hope by educating the community on what we do, it will spark an interest in the manufacturing industry and potentially lead people to pursue a career in the field,” she said.
The Oct. 4 group included Veterans Home residents and students from Hills-Beaver Creek School District.
They toured the entire facility and met with team members in sales, project management and production and saw how the apparatus are manufactured at Midwest Fire, a factory-direct manufacturer.
Atchison said Midwest Fire’s primary focus for the event was to educate the local community about manufacturing careers.
“Manufacturing Day is a great way to get the community involved in what we do and showcase the manufacturing we do inside the facility,” she said.
MFG Day is held each year on the first Friday in October to spotlight the logistics of modern manufacturing careers by inviting numerous companies, educational and community leaders to see what it’s all about.
Midwest Fire Equipment & Repair Company has been manufacturing tankers and pumpers since 1987.
Atchison said the company works directly with customers, never through dealers, to keep costs down and communication consistent during the entire sales and manufacturing process.
“We take pride in our work and our ability to produce some of the highest quality, most innovative tankers and pumpers on the market,” she said.
