Lead Summary
, ,

The Plum Creek Library System presented a first-person interactive historical program featuring Melanie Stringer as Laura Ingalls Wilder Thursday night, Oct. 27, at the Rock County Library. Stringer has been visiting libraries throughout the nine-county Plum Creek Library system, relating stories of Wilder’s experiences on the prairie in 1896 as told from Laura’s perspective. The program included a hands-on artifact display of everyday items familiar and necessary during this era. Springer is a historian who has studied American history, women’s history and Laura Ingalls Wilder for over 20 years. In her presentations, she encourages active participation and questions from her audiences. The program was free and open to all ages thanks to Minnesota’s arts and cultural heritage funding.
