Two eighth-graders rose to the top during local geography bees conducted recently for middle-schoolers in Luverne and Hills-Beaver Creek school districts.
Michael Halsne, Luverne, and Josh Lohr, H-BC, beat out fellow schoolmates for the title of 2020 Geography Bee champion in their respective schools.
Two rounds were conducted with the first round being a multiple-choice quiz.
The finalists answered more open-ended questions in the process to select each of the schools’ champions.
As school geography bee champions, Halsne and Lohr completed an online test. The top 100 finishers qualify for the state geography bee.
The state bee takes place in March in St. Paul.
