Luverne community to celebrate annual winterfest this weekend

The Luverne community will celebrate its 2019 Winterfest weekend Dec. 6-8 with a three-day lineup of special events and activities.
The celebration includes the annual Winterfest Arts and Crafts Show at Luverne Elementary School and the return of a lighted city park, “Love the Light” winter wonderland.”
“One thing we are very excited about is that we have 80 booths at the school,” said Jane Lanphere, Luverne Area Chamber Director. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had that many booths.”
At the “Love the Light” event, 22 groups and organizations have set up displays, which the public can tour through Jan. 5, 2020.
The weekend schedule follows below:
Friday, Dec. 6:
•Puppet Show Story Hour at 10 a.m. at Rock County Library.
•Wine and beer tasting from 5-8 p.m. at Blue Mound Liquor.
•Cribbage tournament at 7 p.m. at Luverne Eagles Club.
•Holiday Trivia Team Tournament at 7 p.m. at Take 16 Event Center sponsored by Rock County Library.
Saturday, Dec. 7:
•Winterfest Arts and Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the commons and Cardinal Gym at Luverne Elementary School. Admission is $5; children 12 and under are free.
•Santa’s workshop for grades K-4, sponsored by 4-H is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Luverne Elementary School with make-and-take projects and shopping center for $2-$5 gifts. 
•Pictures with Santa by Myhre Studio from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the elementary multi-purpose room. Cost is $15 for a color 5x7 with proceeds to Rock County S.H.A.R.E.
•Rock County Sno Masters at 10 a.m. at the Howling Dog Saloon. Free swap meet and membership drive; Rusty Nutz Vintage Snowmobile Club Show.
•“A Cup of Christmas Tea” Hinkly House Christmas open house from 1-4 p.m. with a presentation at 2 p.m.
•Wine and beer tasting from 5-8 p.m. at Blue Mound Liquor.
•Community Christmas Cantata, “Sing Christmas,” by Carnegie Minstrels at 7 p.m. at the American Reformed Church. $10 admission will support the Rock County Food Shelf.
Sunday, Dec. 8:
•Tony Boyenga Family Benefit from noon to 4 p.m. at Grand Prairie Events. A freewill donation meal, football viewing, 50/50 raffle, activities, silent auction. Details at (Link:gtego.net/glink/boyenga)
•“Love the Light” winter wonderland from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Luverne City Park. A $5 per car cost; vote for best display. Cookie and beverage fundraiser by Student Council. Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus in Shelter House.
