Luverne Area Community Foundation announces grant award recipients for 2020

The Luverne Area Community Foundation granted nearly $84,000 to dozens of local organizations in 2020.
LACF grants are typically awarded in the categories of health care and community.
This year, however, the foundation established a Community Crisis Fund to award grants for Covid-19 assistance. Those recipients are listed here.
 
Health Care Grants $45,600
•Rock Ranch Inc. – Rider Lyft for seniors and or disabled riders.
•LIFT/Luverne Farmers Market – POP program (Power of Produce) child healthy eating education.
•Luverne Fire Department – New fire safety hoods for head protection and extraction gloves.
•Sanford Luverne Medical Center – Bladder scanner.
•Luverne Public Schools – Flu Shot Clinic for students and teachers.
•Hills-Beaver Creek Schools – Flu Shot Clinic for students and teachers.
•Hills Fire Department – New AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
•Lutheran Social Services – Shelf-stable meals for seniors through home-delivered meals.
•Sanford Luverne – Meta Lab/Sleep Apnea machine for at home testing.
•Rock County Opportunities – added washer and dryer for community laundry services.
 
Community Grants $24,868
•Hardwick American Legion Auxiliary - new chairs for Hardwick Community Center/Legion.
•Luverne Child Guide – at risk youth scholarships.
•Rock County Sportsmen’s Club – window improvements.
•Blue Mound Ice Arena – net equipment updates.
•A.C.E. of Southwest MN – adult resource booklet update.
•Luverne Baseball Association – baseball/softball field groomer.
•City of Hills – baseball field updates.
•Southwest Youth Services – online learning platform in collaboration with Blandin Tech Grant.
•City of Beaver Creek – support for community splash pad.
•City of Magnolia – new signage for city park and campground.
•Luverne Public School – elementary music orchestra event.
•Luverne Hockey Club – technology enhancement for online event viewing.
•Blue Mound Area Theatre/Palace Theatre – interior signage.
 
Community Crisis Fund Grants – Covid 19 assistance $13,165
•Little Lambs Preschool – child-sized hand washing stations and air purifier
•Blue Mound Area Theatre – sanitizing vapor machine to clean theatre area.
#Luv1LuvAll – mental health support materials Covid 19.
•Big Buddies of Rock County – mentor buddy support.
•Luverne United Methodist Church – community meal support during Covid-19.
•Rock County Opportunities – client services online platform during Covid-19.
•Luverne Child Guide – return-to-school safely supplies.
•LIFT/Luverne Farmers Market – handwashing stations and social distancing materials for Farmers Market safety needs during Covid-19.
 
The Community Crisis Fund will be open until there is no longer a local need.
Deadlines for the next rounds of competitive grants are March 31 and Sept. 30, 2021.
