With the prom theme of “A Night to Remember,” organizers for Luverne High School’s after-prom activities will remember 2016 for the number of participants.
Organized by the junior class parents, the safe alternative activity had more than 90 percent of those who participated in the Grand March and dance staying at the school until 4:30 a.m. for the after-prom activities.
“We were really pleased with the numbers,” said Emily Crabtree, who co-chaired the event with Phoebe Flom.
There were 102 couples walking through the Grand March and later staying for the dance in the high school gymnasium Saturday night.
At 12:45 a.m. Sunday the students were able to move over to the elementary school to participate in various events.
Crabtree said parents organized and supervised a variety of events ranging from dodge ball games, a hypnotist, a drive-in movie theatre, inflatables and lots of food and drink items throughout the evening.
Events ended at 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
A record number of students also attended the prom banquet before the Grand March. The event was hosted at the Blue Mound Banquet Center in Luverne.
Crabtree said 151 students chose a chicken or steak entrée at the banquet.
Banquet participants were eligible for prizes for attending the banquet and after-prom events.
Adrian High School also had a Paris-inspired theme, “Midnight in Paris.” The event was also conducted Saturday night.
Also Saturday night was Ellsworth High School’s prom event, Grecian Gardens.
Hills-Beaver Creek’s prom April 22 was decorated to the theme of “Shine Bright Like A Diamond.”
The event was in the Hugo Goehle gymnasium in Hills.
