Luverne Area Chamber opened “Love the Light” at the city park Sunday night, where 80 carloads drove the circular route looking at the 24 displays set up by businesses and organizations. The 20-degree temperatures encouraged participants to stop at the shelter house to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus and have some cookies and hot cocoa before they finished viewing the light displays. The “Love the Light” contest closed out the Luverne Winterfest weekend activities that began Friday. The park continues to be open daily through Jan. 5 for continued viewing of the holiday lights.

On Sunday participants in each car voted for their favorite display. The Luverne LOOP entrant received the most votes. Second place was a tie between Buffalo Ridge Insurance and Jaycox Implement, and third place was split between the Rock County Star Herald, St. Catherine’s Church and Luverne High School student council.
