Luverne School Board members met in special session Friday morning to accept the resignation of longtime teacher Jane Cote, who submitted her resignation Aug. 31.
School began Sept. 6.
Cote began as a teacher in Magnolia in 1981 and became part of the Luverne elementary teaching staff when the two districts merged.
Cote was working with the school’s response to intervention programs when she submitted her resignation.
The district is currently advertising for a full-time elementary teacher.

Board workshop features building planning
Representatives from Ingensa, a school facilities planning company in Plymouth, met with board members at a Thursday evening, Sept. 8, planning session.
Board members are visiting with experts in educational facility planning as they decide the district’s next steps.
By December 2017 the district’s $12.5 million bond levy to build the elementary school will be paid in full.
Board members have considered hiring a facilities planner to determine future building needs within the district.
Last month representatives from Foster, Jacobs & Johnson of Sioux Falls met with board members. They proposed facilitating listening sessions, gathering information and prioritizing projects at a cost between $20,000 and $30,000.
Representatives with Ingensa would provide a similar service for $7,500.
“We don’t require any out-of-pocket payments right way,” said owner Jacqui Coleman. “We usually build into the project costs.”
As the meeting was information only, board members did not make any formal decisions.
The group’s next board meeting is Sept. 22.
