Local Brass players join 'Taps Across America'

Retired high school band director Dale Nelson played “Taps” in Luverne’s Maplewood Cemetery Monday along with buglers and trumpet players across the country for “Taps Across America.” With parades and gatherings canceled over the Memorial Day weekend, brass players were asked to stand on their porches or wherever they may be at 3 p.m. Monday and play “Taps.” The idea was a brainchild of retired Air Force bugler Jari Villanueva and CBS "On the Road" correspondent Steve Hartman, who called on everyone else to take in the somber, 24-note reminder of what Memorial Day is all about.
