LHS speech brings home third-place trophy

The Luverne High School speech team traveled to Montevideo Saturday, March 7, for the Thunder Hawk Speech Invitational.
The Cardinals brought home a third-place trophy.
There were 13 schools and 108 competitors at the event.
Several LHS speech team members earned individual awards at the invitational as follows:
•Creative expression: Meagan Hansen, fourth.
•Drama: Zoe Perkins, red ribbon.
•Duo interpretation: Destiny and Chase Matthiesen, sixth.
•Extemp reading: Nicole Hoogland, third; Reka Meinerts, fifth.
•Extemporaneous speaking: Chance Tunnissen, second.
•Great speeches: Rylee Anderson, third.
•Humorous interpretation: Gunnar Oldre, second; Seno Chanthalangsy, third; Luke Thorson, blue ribbon.
•Poetry: Hailey Boll, red ribbon.
•Prose: Josie Golla, third.
•Storytelling: Roselynn Hartshorn, second; Xavier Carbonneau, third.
The team’s next competition is March 19 for the Big South Conference Tournament in Marshall.
