Lais earns state recognition

Lead Summary

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) recently recognized Alan Lais from the city of Luverne for maintaining a perfect compliance record with the city’s wastewater treatment permit during 2015.
Mayor Pat Baustian presented Lais with a certificate at the May 24 City Council meeting.
The certificate recognizes “exemplary effort expended in the year 2015 to comply with the MPCA’s permit program.”
The certificate states, “Your efforts help protect and preserve the waters of Minnesota.”
To be eligible for this award, facility operators were required to correctly submit all monitoring reports to the MPCA on time, demonstrate consistent compliance through monitoring or surveys and employ staff certified by the MPCA in wastewater operations.
This is the 10th time since 1982 that Luverne has received this certificate of commendation.
