LACF spring grants announced; deadline for fall application Sept. 30

The Luverne Area Community Foundation recently announced its Spring 2019 Grant Awards in the amount of $62,840.
Grants awarded in the health care category are:
•#Luv1LuvAll $1,955 for dental health.
•Luverne BackPack Program $2,500 for K-12 weekend food supplies.
•L.I.F.T. and Farmers Market $1,000 nutrition education and exposure to fresh foods.
•Rock County Ag Society $2,582 for eat stand bathroom accessibility at fairgrounds.
•Generations Inc. $40,000 over five years for new kitchen updates for meals.
•Sanford Luverne $3,000 for a pediatric crib for younger hospitalized children.
•Luverne Public Schools $2,407 Flu Shot Clinic.
•Hills Beaver Creek Schools $816 Flu Shot Clinic .
Grants awarded in the community general fund category are:
•Blue Mound Area Theater $1,000 for organ restoration project.
•Friends of Blue Mounds State Park $350 for youth state park activity guide.
•Luverne Community Education $1,100 for development of pickleball court.
•Luverne Elementary School $1,770 for mindfulness programming and mental health.
•Rock County 4-H Federation $1,315 for handicap picnic tables at fairgrounds.
•Rock County Opportunities $2,045 for handicap sidewalk.
•United Methodist Church and Service Over Self Community Project $1,000 for project work supplies.
Twice yearly the Luverne Area Community Foundation invites applications that will enhance the quality of life in the following areas:
•Arts and humanities.
•Community and civic affairs.
•Social and economic growth.
•Environment.
•Support programs for people both young and old.
•Health and wellness.
Not-for-profit organizations (either singly or as a consortium), government agencies, academic and research institutions located within the Luverne Area (Rock County) are among the organizations eligible to request support from the Luverne Area Community Foundation.
Deadline for 2019 fall grant cycle is Sept. 30. Online applications can be completed at www.luvacf.org under the grants tab through the “apply now” drop-down menu.
