h-BC hires new staff for 2015-16 year

At their regular meeting Monday, April 27, the Hills-Beaver Creek School Board approved the hiring of two new teachers for the 2015-16 school year.  
Megan Klumper was hired as secondary English-language arts instructor and Kelli Yonkovich as K-12 special needs instructor.  
The board also extended the 2015 school year contract with Darin DeBoer for 12 hours of developmentally appropriate physical education and extended the 2015 school year contract with Jil Vaughn for 26 hours of speech and language services.
 
In other business:
•The board accepted a $500 donation to the elementary school for their playground resurfacing project from Cooperative Energy Company, Sibley, Iowa.
•H-BC FFA members Hunter Harvey, Haley Leuthold, Logan Leuthold, Jasmine Lingen, Autumn Olson, Zach Scholten and Isaiah Vis participated in state judging this past week in St. Paul at the Minnesota State FFA Convention.
•Jenna Wilgenburg set an H-BC track record in the 800-meter run.  She also set a meet record at the Luverne Cardinal Relays Friday, April 17.
•Jessup Dunn placed fourth at the SWMN Regional Spelling Bee in Fulda and was champion at the Intergenerational Spelling Bee at the Luverne Senior Citizens Center.
Monday, May 11, is the next regular school board meeting.
Friday, May 22, at 7 p.m. is H-BC senior class graduation.
Tuesday, May 26, is the second regular school board meeting in May.
