Next week Hills-Beaver Creek High School choral students will sing on stage with multi-platinum-selling rock group Foreigner.
They will join band members on stage to sing the chorus to their No. 1 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is.”
“They were so excited,” said director Amy Comp. “Foreigner is a cool band that they listen to, and they wanted the opportunity to sing on stage with them.”
The H-BC choir was chosen March 5 from an audition video the group completed for a contest in late February.
The contest was sponsored by B102.7 in Sioux Falls and was helping the band search for an area middle or high school choir to join the group on stage.
“I heard about the contest from a parent who had heard about it on the radio,” Comp said. “We practiced a few minutes a day … then made a video-recording of our audition and sent it in.”
The concert will be March 19 at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.
A March 5 email to the Comp announced that the H-BC students won the contest.
“I was absolutely ecstatic,” she said. “I couldn’t stop smiling the rest of the day.”
Students singing with Foreigner include Allie LaRock, Bryn Mongeau, Cole Rozeboom, Michaela Abels, Britton McKenzie, Leif Tollefson, Lexi Drake, Eli Taubert, Tara Paulson, Tahilya Kruger, Madison Gaugler, Mazzi Moore and Jaci Stubbe.
