Getting ready for some football

Lead Summary
,

Workers with Gil Haugan Construction of Sioux Falls assisted Luverne Public Schools in removing the outdated goal posts from the school’s football field Friday morning, Oct. 2. The workers first sawed each of the goal post’s central pipe in half before pulling the two posts out of the ground with a telehandler.

Previously the two-post goal post was located within the end zone, and a player near the end line could run into a pole or be hit into the pole during a play. The new single-post goal posts are located behind the goal line, lessening the likelihood of a player making contact with the pole. Luverne will play its first home football game on Oct. 23. Homecoming week is scheduled for Oct. 19-23 in Luverne.
