FFA’ers qualify for state competition at regionals April 5
Members of the Luverne-Adrian FFA Chapter competed at the Region 6 general livestock, dairy evaluation and dairy handling contests April 5 at South Dakota State University in Brookings.
Hannah Kruse and Tanner Henrichs placed third and fourth respectively in the dairy handlers contest. Both qualified for the state FFA contest in St. Paul.
Paige Henrichs, Paige Madison, Jaimie Ross and Blake Madison participated in the dairy cattle evaluation contest.
Paige Madison placed sixth overall individually, gaining eligibility to compete at the state contest.
Trevor Mente, Michael Kinsinger, Halle Hough, Justin Mente and Eric Somnis formed the general livestock team. They placed seventh out of 21 teams, and also qualified for the state FFA contest.
Individually Trevor Mente placed fifth, Kinsinger 18th, Hough 40th, Justin Mente 49th, and Somnis, 69th.
 
FFA’ers compete at state convention April 28-29
Twelve members of the Luverne-Adrian FFA Chapter traveled to St. Paul for the state FFA convention April 28-29.
Hannah Kruse placed sixth in the state dairy handlers contest.
Paige Madison finished 115th out of the 221 participants in the Dairy Cattle contest.
Kruse and Madison also earned $1,000 scholarships from the FFA program.
The general livestock team placed 22nd out of 61 teams.
Individually, Trevor Mente finished tenth, Justin Mente 83rd, Halle Hough 110th, and Michael Kinsinger 124th out of 236 participants.
Local FFA members also attending the convention included Blake Madison, Eric Somnis, Kaylie Ossefoort, Jaimie Ross, Tacey Baustian and Meghan Mollberg.
H-BC FFA chapter attends state convention
Twenty students from the Hills-Beaver Creek FFA chapter attended the Minnesota State FFA Convention on April 28-29 in St. Paul.
The students joined almost 4,000 FFA members across the state for the 90th annual event.
“Aspire To Be: Reach for the Horizon” was the convention theme.
The local students attended workshops, special events and participated in various competitions.
The H-BC forestry team placed 25th out of 46 teams. Luke LaRock placed 45th out of 115 participants and was the team’s top individual.
Floriculture finished 24th out of 44 teams. Bailey Swan finished 40th out of 161 students and was the team’s top individual.
The general livestock team placed 27th out of 61 teams. Tory Knobloch was the team’s top individual finishing 33rd out of 221 participants.
Lauren Tatge participated in the state FFA band. Allison LaRock participated in the state choir.
Allison LaRock also placed in the top ten for the state talent show.
Also attending the convention were Chase Bosch, Zander Wysong, Donavon Leenderts, Thomas Dysthe, Erika Dysthe, Hannah Fick, Hunter Bork, Whitney Elbers, Joslyn Birger, Jax Wysong, Sadie Fuerstenberg, Easton Harnack, Madison Spath, Parker Gehrke and Sam Moser.
