Luverne-Adrian FFA’ers attend Greenhand, officer day
Nineteen members from the Luverne-Adrian FFA Chapter attended the Region 6 FFA Greenhand and Chapter Officer Day Sept. 25 in Windom.
First-year Greenhand members attending included Tori Hemme, D.J. Swenson, A.J. Ossefoort, Harrison Uithoven, J.T. Remme, Luke Hansen, Nick Hansen, Cole Mann, Jacob Henning, Jacob Hansen, Ross Bergman, Lilly Ehlers, Claire Hoffman and Sophie Holmberg.
Members participated in various mini contests and listened to Region 6 FFA officers and state FFA officers talk about leadership opportunities, travel opportunities, official dress, and which Region 6 activities are available to each member.
Officers who attended included Cassie Flanagan, Destiny Matthiesen, Gretchen Jacobsma, Justin Dohlmann and Chase Overgaard. They learned about teamwork, setting goals and planning a program of activities for their chapter. 
 
Horse team places seventh
Five members attended the Region 6 FFA horse evaluation contest on Oct. 15 in Fairmont.
The team of Kaitlin McDowell, Sophie Holmberg, Gretchen Jacobsma, Destiny Matthiesen, and Cassie Flanagan placed seventh out of 16 teams.
Individually, Flanagan placed third and Matthiesen placed 22nd.
 
Trap shoot contest results
Two Luverne-Adrian FFA chapter members participated in the Mountain Lake FFA Trap Shoot Invitational.
Eric Somnis placed 23rd with a score of 21 out of 25.
Destiny Matthiesen finished 43rd with a score of 19 out of 25.
Top shooter was Andy Baumann of Springfield with a perfect 25 out of 25. The invitational had 124 FFA’ers completing the competition.
 
H-BC FFA’ers compete at Region 6 contests
Two Hills-Beaver Creek FFA judging teams will compete at the state convention.
The two teams qualified at the Region 6 judging competitions in Fairmont Oct. 15.
The poultry team of Joslyn Birger, Kenadie Fick, Jacey Vandenhoek, Ashlee Kelderman and Avery Vis placed seventh and will compete at state. Fick finished in 10th place individually.
Also eligible for state contest is the soils team of Donavon Leenderts, Max Scholten, Kyle Kueter, Zander Wysong and Troy Durst who also placed seventh in the team competition.
The forestry team placed sixth. Members included Easton Harnack, Austin Allen, Calvin Erickson, Gavin Wysong and Parker Gehrke.
Horse evaluation team members of Kellie Vanderbrink, Kathleen Kiers and Tyrae Goodface placed 14th.
