Crash near Hardwick claims two lives Sept. 4

Two Luverne residents died in a one-vehicle crash reported at 6:09 a.m. Wednesday morning, Sept. 4, to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
Myron Waddington, 39, and Jennifer Cattnach, 41, were riding eastbound in a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu on County Road 7 two-and-one-half miles west of Hardwick near 120th Avenue when the crash occurred.
According to Sheriff Evan Verbrugge, the vehicle left the roadway, lost control on the gravel shoulder, hit a field approach and rolled. Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene were the Minnesota State Patrol, Hardwick Volunteer Fire Department and Rock County Ambulance.
Waddington was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, and moved to Luverne in 1995 with his parents, Richard and Nancy Waddington. He worked for Four Way Insulation. Waddington was married to Jennifer Kessler, and they had six children.
Cattnach was born in Kokomo, Indiana, and moved to Luverne with her parents, Steve and Penny Cattnach. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1996.
She and her husband, Charles Spurgin, have one son, Garret.
