County fair is this week in Luverne

The Rock County Fair this year will be noted for quality grandstand attractions, more free family entertainment and the always-popular 4-H and Open Class competitions.
The event started Wednesday with 4-H judging and continues through Saturday at the Rock County Fairgrounds on South Freeman Avenue and East Hatting Street.
According to Fair Board Secretary Lee Sells, the 2019 event is shaping up to be better than ever with more attractions for more visitors of all ages.
“We’re hoping to get the people down to the fairgrounds to spend more time at the fair,” Sells said. “If there’s more going on, they’ll spend more time at the fair.”
New additions like the Pipestone System Miracle of Birth Discovery Center, 4-H Meats Cook-off, Bureau Imagination Station and Dutch Oven demonstrations will be popular reasons to come to the fair.
But a solid lineup of grandstand entertainment will also bring big crowds. (See page 9 for a preview story of those events.)
The July 18 edition of the Star Herald featured a full section previewing the Rock County Fair, and those stories and photos can be found at www.star-herald.com.
