Buffalo Days set for May 31 to June 2

The 35th Annual Buffalo Days celebration is set for this weekend in Luverne where a full slate of events and activities are set to unfold Friday, May 31, through Sunday, June 2.
“It’s a good start to the summer,” said Luverne Chamber Director Jane Wildung Lanphere.
In addition to the Friday night Cruise-In, Saturday parade and Arts in the Park and Sunday Tales from the Graves, the weekend is packed full of additional attractions and activities.
Returning to the annual community celebration this year will be the Luverne Baseball Association’s tournament games, which so far have dozens of teams registered to play.
The games, scheduled at ball diamonds throughout town, will include grades 3-8 and will bring hundreds of additional crowds to town for Buffalo Days weekend.
Take 16’s block party at the east end of Main Street Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m. will be a welcome way to relax after Arts in the Park with live music and locally brewed beer.
The Friday Cruise-in downtown from 6 to 10:30 p.m. will also be a big draw with the Surfin’ Safari band, beer garden, food vendors and all kinds of collectible cars, trucks and other automobiles.
During that time, the United Methodist Church will serve pie and ice cream from 5 to 8 p.m.
Following is the weekend lineup:
Friday, May 31:
6:30 a.m. Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast at Grand Prairie Events.
4-7 p.m. Quilt Show at the Hinkly House.
6-10:30 p.m. Buffalo Days Cruise-In on Main Street in downtown Luverne. Registration is free and all vehicles are welcome. Corral parking is available for over 300 vehicles along with food, beer garden and live music.
Saturday, June 1:
7:30-11 a.m. 4-H Waffle Feed at the Masonic Temple.
8:30 a.m. Buffalo Days 5K & 10K Fun Run & Fun Walk. Kids’ Run begins at 8 a.m. Register at Sanford Luverne Rehab starting at 7 a.m.
9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Arts in the Park at the Luverne City Park. Artists, crafters and booths, Food Court, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations at noon. Buffalo Chip Throwing Contest at 12:30 p.m. Free inflatables for children sponsored by Living Rock Church
10 a.m. Buffalo Days Parade.
11 a.m.-3 p.m. Quilt Show at the Hinkly House.
4 to 10 p.m. Take 16 Block Party on Main Street with live music, food and beverages.
Sunday, June 2:
From 1 to 4 p.m. Tales from the Graves #8 at the History Center on East Main Street. A homemade pie and ice cream social for a freewill donation will help support the Rock County Historical Society.
