The 34th Annual Buffalo Days celebration is set for this weekend in Luverne where a full slate of events and activities are set to unfold Friday, June 3, through Sunday, June 5.
“It’s a good start to the summer,” said Luverne Chamber Director Jane Wildung Lanphere.
She said a big draw to the annual event this year will be the Luverne Baseball Association’s tournament games, which so far have 47 teams registered to play.
The games, scheduled at ball diamonds throughout town, will include grades 3-8 plus a separate VFW Tournament is also planned for the weekend.
“To me that’s a huge addition to the weekend,” Lanphere said.
She said another attraction will be Take 16’s block party at the east end of Main Street Saturday afternoon and evening, featuring live music and locally brewed beer.
It’s from 2 to 10 p.m. — and will serve as a welcome oasis after Arts in the Park vendors and activities wind down around 4 p.m.
Lanphere said the Friday night Cruise-in downtown and Saturday night races at the fairgrounds are shaping up to be solid weekend events.
The local Starfires will provide live music at the Cruise-in, which starts at 6 p.m. and continues through 10:30. The races at the fairgrounds start with hot laps at 6:30 p.m.
